MATADOR, CAPITOL TO PART WAYS - WHAT ABOUT LIZ?
According to the April 3 issue of Billboard, Matador Records and Capitol Records are ending their three-year relationship, and Matador's founding partners will again assume complete ownership of the label. After a financial settlement with Capitol, Gerard Cosloy and Chris Lombardi, who founded the company in 1989, will again control 100% of Matador, as well as the rights and contracts to all the labels acts except Liz Phair. LIZ ON LILITH FAIR LIVE ALBUM
Liz will appear on a proposed three live album Lilith Fair set from the 1998 shows. The three separate releases likely will be called Lilith Fair 1999: Vol. 1, 2, and 3, and will be issued by Nettwerk Records. Liz will appear on Vol. 3, and the song featured is "Never Said". Vol. 3 should be available in stores on May 18th. [Original report: The first two Lilith Fair live compilations will be released in mid-May, at the same time tickets for this summer's North American tour dates go on sale.
